Position Overview

Stern Strategy Group, headquartered in Iselin, NJ, is poised for significant, organic growth and seeks to add a Principal to the executive leadership team of its Speakers and Advisory division. Stern’s Speakers division represents a roster of speakers whose work is a significant driver of worldwide innovation and global thinking.  The Principal will likewise possess a global mindset that drives innovation and thought leadership. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Managing Director of Speakers and owner of Stern Strategy Group, to help guide and execute company strategies that measurably grow an already successful the speakers’ bureau and advisory practice to the next level. The ideal candidate will embrace Stern’s core values and culture, possess superb business acumen and a superior ability to negotiate and close revenue-significant agreements with both speakers and company clients.  The Principal will be a visionary with executable, imaginative ideas and demonstrable experience in the successful execution of innovative strategies.  The successful candidate will be decisive and accountable for results and have the ability to deliver exceptional brand promise and industry differentiation for Stern Speakers and Advisory. Primary Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate measurable effectiveness in developing and strengthening strategically significant business relationships with current and prospective speakers and company clients
  • Display unquestionable integrity and credibility to consistently maintain a high-level of client and speaker loyalty through engagement, delivering value and building trust
  • Effectively partner with Managing Director and other company leaders to help run the advisory and speakers’ bureau business
  • Demonstrate the ability to help grow the organization, while remaining decisive and accountable
  • Assist in the resolution of business management challenges and strategy execution in all areas of the agency, including marketing and sales
  • Successfully coach and mentor others to improve performance and optimize/expand their ability to enable broader and deeper speaker and company client engagement
  • Demonstrate a drive and determination to fully learn about the range of advisory services and speaker capabilities offered by the agency; successfully communicate these to others
  • Demonstrate a measurable commitment to becoming deeply knowledgeable about each speakers’ subject matter expertise and demonstrate a superior ability to accurately communicate this to others, including effectively positioning their capabilities to align with the objectives and initiatives of client companies and add significant value for clients
  • Demonstrate superior skill in tactfully and firmly negotiating, securing and closing speaking engagement transactions that provide significant value to Stern, its speakers and its company clients; accurately prepare contractual documents for both domestic and international events
  • Explore and effectively leverage company technologies (e.g. customer relationship management system) for the achievement of company goals
  • Create new business opportunities and effectively leverage existing relationships and booked engagements for on-going company profitability and steady, reliable growth
  • Demonstrate the ability to seize market shifts and opportunities for the Speakers and Advisory agency
  • Continually demonstrate strong task and time management skills with the ability to administer multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize workload and effectively manage resources


  • Position relevant degree (for example, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, etc.); graduate degree a plus
  • 5 – 10 years of demonstrated experience in an executive leadership role
  • Proven track record of innovative thinking and problem-solving in a highly collaborative environment
  • Proven track record of outstanding performance as part of an executive management team in a company with service offerings
  • Proven track record assisting to strategically scale the operations of a growing organization
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written skills and demonstrated track record of effective problem-solving and prudent decision-making; ability to simply and explain complex ideas to diverse audiences
  • Proven track record of successfully coaching and leading others to successful performance
  • Experience working with executive team leaders to conceive and execute successful strategic goals
  • Proven track record of effective negotiation skills with measurable positive revenue outcomes
