We are seeking a Business Development Representative (BDR) to proactively develop new relationships with Global 1000 organizations and partner closely with our Account Executives (AEs) to generate thoughtful, high-quality opportunities for the experts Stern represents.
The BDR will initially support both speaking and advisory engagements across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC (Eastern Time zone preferred; limited APAC coverage expected initially).
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Outreach & Relationship Development
- Proactively identify and engage Global 1000 organizations through thoughtful outbound outreach (phone, email, LinkedIn, and potentially selective industry events).
- Initiate conversations with relevant stakeholders such as:
- Event owners and agenda shapers
- Strategy, transformation, or innovation leaders
- L&D, talent, or leadership development leaders
- Conduct outreach that is informed, relevant, and tailored to the organization’s context.
- Focus on building relationships and long-lead engagement, not solely appointment setting.
- Generate 8–12 qualified discovery meetings per month.
Lead Qualification & Opportunity Shaping
Qualify inbound and outbound leads based on:
- Strategic fit with Stern’s ICP
- Relevance of upcoming moments (offsites, SKOs, board meetings, transformations)
- Clarity of decision-making ecosystem
Collaboration with AEs & Internal Teams
Work closely with AEs to:
- Align outreach with priority accounts, verticals, and speakers
- Refine messaging based on real-world conversations
- Ensure seamless and thoughtful handoff of qualified opportunities
Research, Intelligence & CRM Discipline
- Develop a strong understanding of target accounts, including:
- Business priorities
- Relevant initiatives and events
- Key influencers and decision-makers
- Maintain accurate, high-quality records of all interactions and lead stages in HubSpot
- Use HubSpot and enablement tools to support personalization, follow-up, and internal visibility.
Professional Representation of Stern
- Represent Stern and its speakers with credibility, curiosity, and professionalism.
- Serve as a strong first impression of Stern’s intellectual caliber and judgment.
- May be asked to participate in industry events or forums to build relationships and gather market intelligence.
Salary Range: Base $65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience and geographic location. On-target, performance based bonuses and accelerators for over-performance offer the opportunity to earn additional compensation. Salary is based on numerous factors, including qualifications and experience, competitive, geographic and market-based data and our benefits package. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s skills, experience, and qualifications and geographic location.
