Learn More About Elizabeth Bramson

Evolving tech and media landscapes are rewriting the leadership playbook. What model can executives follow to ensure their organization adapts to the latest technologies of today and the future?

Elizabeth Bramson, CEO and publisher of MIT Technology Review, stands out as a forward-thinking strategist who helps leaders understand how technology is changing the way people live, work and make decisions. A gifted speaker, advisor and moderator on topics including emerging technology, leadership and the future, she brings unique experience in successfully developing and implementing strategies for culture change and brand evolution in industries under heavy pressure to transform.

Hailed as a unique institution where โ€œmechanical, scientific and engineering creativity and expertise thrive,โ€ MIT remains a leader in developing and anticipating emerging technologies and taking them to market. Having become the CEO of the Technology Review in 2017, Bramson is renowned for dramatically transforming the iconic brand from a niche magazine into a thriving multi-platform business. She credits this success to a culture that is steeped in detecting where technology is going next and how it will impact us all.

โ€œEmerging technologies are changing everything in modern life, from how we travel and shop to how leaders adapt and grow their businesses. But what is technology doing for people?โ€ asks Bramson, who has more than 20 years of experience building and running teams at world-leading media companies, including The Economist.

โ€œWhether youโ€™re talking about agentic AI, climate science or biomedicine, having a general outlook on technologies can help every leader make better decisions that steer technology adoption in a direction that serves humanity for a more inclusive future,โ€ she adds.

When moderating discussions about whatโ€™s new and next in tech, Bramson helps decision-makers visualize a connection between emerging technologies and their organizations. She also reveals how exciting tools like generative AI and digital twins will reshape business and society.

โ€œWhen you roll out a new technology and it ripples across society, that’s the part leaders need to strategically think about,โ€ explains Bramson. โ€œFor example, when introducing digital twins, teams should test various ways they will be applied and ask questions about what happens after implementation. What industry trends will change or emerge? How is it going to change the way we live? How is it going to change what people say and do?โ€

While Bramson worked her way up to leading a major technology publication, her path to CEO was not without its challenges. She built a career, took time off to start a family and then rejoined the workforce. As younger generations of women work through their anxieties and ask how to get what they want in life without their careers being stifled, Bramson shares the realities of navigating the journey of being an ambitious woman.

โ€œThe theory is that a womanโ€™s career peaks โ€“ then she has children, and it craters. After taking time off, women think thatโ€™s the end of their careers,โ€ explains Bramson. โ€œWomen can keep their careers moving in the direction they want by identifying what ambition means for them and making decisions that lead to that path.โ€

An exemplary role model for all, but especially working women, Bramsonโ€™s path as a determined, career-minded mother in male-dominated spaces is powerfully inspiring.
