Everything inevitably changes; all we really have are our actions.
This principle, loosely based on the Buddhist five remembrances, guides Susan, our founder and fearless leader. Over the last 30 years, she has experienced her fair share of change and believes her ability to adapt without sacrificing integrity – while helping clients and colleagues do the same – has helped her, and the agency, thrive. As president, Susan regularly consults on the strategic direction of client programming and ensures the firm’s core values are embedded in all aspects of the business. A strong and empathic leader, she most enjoys spotting the potential in people, and then giving them the “space to stretch” and experiment to fulfill their promise. It’s a passion that carries to her personal life, as well, and her love for children. “You just never know where they will go.”
Strategy requires disruption.
From advising individuals on their career paths to representing book authors to consulting for large corporations, Danny helps clients find and project the distinct voice needed to build thought leadership and disrupt industries. With deep roots in the lecture business, he has collaborated with leading visionaries and change agents shaping the future of business and welfare of the world. As managing director, Danny leads the firm’s work with speakers and authorities, and provides high-level strategy and counsel. Of all his accomplishments, he is most proud of his two daughters, Joanna and Julia, though he is quick not to take credit for their accomplishments. He is constantly amazed by how they’ve grown through determination and risk-taking – two attributes he values.
A vision without a program that answers back to it is nothing more than a dream.
With a keen ability to take vision and translate it into tactical action, Nicole has been helping the firm's clients realize their dreams for more than 17 years. As senior advisor, she is relied upon for her direct counsel, out-of-the-box thinking and creative programming. Her greatest joy is seeing others – clients, colleagues and peers alike – get to that aha moment, and she isn't afraid to take risks, ask the tough questions (maybe it comes from her years as a journalist) and experiment to get them there. Outside of the office she likes to keep it simple: relaxing by the beach with a good book and then cooking dinner for friends.
The right connections – between people and ideas – open doors to important opportunities.
A strong believer that relationships are the heart of business success, Joan is inspired by helping bring together interesting people, ideas and opportunities. And with nearly two decades at Stern, she has had no shortage of inspiration. In her role leading comprehensive programs and providing strategic counsel, she most enjoys leveraging synergies amongst clients and a wide network of influencers. This knack for forging connections extends to her deep involvement with professional and academic circles. An adjunct professor at Seton Hall University, she is director of digital communication and past president of the PRSA's NJ Chapter. When Joan isn’t making connections in the office, you might find her heading “down the shore,” devouring a good book, chasing around her toddler Elliott, or rocking out to her beloved Foo Fighters.
Surround yourself with smart people and learn from them.
With nearly a decade at Stern, Ned has had the opportunity to counsel – and learn from – some of the brightest minds in business. A lifelong student, he is always searching for new ways to hone his craft by applying insights and ideas from outside sources. He says inspiration can come from anywhere in the world – from his young children to emerging start-ups to more established brands – which he constantly draws on to infuse creativity into client programming. As vice president, his pragmatic leadership style combines with strategic thinking to effectively connect clients with top-tier media, conferences and industry influencers. If he hadn’t answered the call to become a communications pro, you might have found him as a carpenter crafting wood furnishings and cabinetry.
Be forever curious and don’t resist experimentation.

In her role as vice president, she leads our direct engagement competency, client programs, and guides strategy for visual and graphic projects. Tara’s inquisitive nature extends to her personal life where she is learning to craft leather handbags and building a hockey rink for her children in her backyard.
