Eric So, Ph.D., is a financial economist and tenured professor in the Global Economics and Management group at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Since joining MIT, So has established himself as a leading researcher and educator, culminating in his current position as Sloan Distinguished Professor of Global Economics and Management. His research portfolio spans interconnected topics including asset pricing and trading, behavioral economics, artificial intelligence (AI), and regulatory policy.
Within MIT, So holds several key leadership positions that showcase his commitment to advancing the practical applications of research insights toward business and education. He serves as the faculty co-director for the AI Executive Academy, the faculty chair of MIT Sloan’s Ph.D. program, and the lead faculty for the MIT Sloan Generative AI Hub for Teaching and Learning.
So is recognized as an outstanding educator, having received multiple awards for excellence in teaching and leadership. Additionally, he brings several years of experience advising actively managed funds, bridging the gap between academic theory and industry practice.
So is the co-author of the book โAlphanomics: The Informational Underpinnings of Market Efficiency,โ which he teaches a finance course based on. Additionally, he teaches courses on AI for business and education, as well as effective communication skills for academics.
So joined MIT in 2012 after earning a Ph.D. from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and a masterโs degree in economics from Cornell University.
